Nipadua

This activation was a collaborative work that spoke to the interconnectedness between ourselves, ancestors, Gods, each other and our Earth Mother.

We are have always been a reflection of Asase Yaa, Earth Mother.
The ways in which our bodies and those of ancestors past and present tell the tales of wounds of which the world has placed in our skin.
The black femme body is one which has received and continues to receive physical, emotional, mental, psychological and spiritual assault, abuse and crucification at the hands and mouths of foreigners and our own.
Looking through the mirror, our Earth Mother’s story reflects the same image of abuse and exploitation that we have placed upon Her.
Stripping Her of what She has not consent to, cutting Her branches and drinking of Her blood.
Our vessels, our bodies, are a mirror of our Mother.
We are Her - NIPA
She is Us - DUA
NIPA, the human. Dua, the tree.
NIPADUA the body. Never one without the other
May we remember to bring value back to ourselves
May we remember Earth Mothers value in order to remember our own.
May we remember we are as delicate and as intricate as the Earth.
